Technical Recruiters Sr. Oracle DBA- Dallas ,TX

A client here in Dallas is looking for local candidates for a long term(12+ months) contract position in Plano, TX.  On an hourly basis, we are looking to pay no more than 45 /hr.  Strong candidates will have good experience in PL/SQL coding, performance tuning and RAC experience. The Oracle DBA will be responsible for ensuring the highest levels of performance and maximum uptime for all aspects of the production database infrastructure supporting both internal and external customers. This position will be responsible for the design, implementation, support and maintenance of the architecture that supports business needs. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Problem diagnosis and resolution
  • Data Modeling
  • Software patch management
  • Database security
  • Capacity planning
  • Database analysis and design
  • On-call DBA support
  • Performance monitoring of Applications
  • Performance tuning of Applications and Databases
  • Database backup to tape
  • Database restore from tape
  • Query optimization
  • Data replication
  • Support multiple business entities


ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages the production databases. Ensures the recoverability of all production data for operational and business continuation needs.
  • Under limited supervision executes the responsibilities of the job and ensures that commitments and deliverables are met.
  • Assists in the resolution of complex problems in support of production. This will include on-call support.
  • Provides performance and tuning. Improves the quality and reduces defects in all database environments.
  • Creates, develops, and reviews the physical data model created from the logical data model. Creates and implements the physical database design and structures.
  • Ensures that the detailed physical design of data structures and databases comply with data policies, standards, principles and meets the established level of service goals for the system.
  • Actively participates in supporting test plans, test environments, benchmarks and statistics.
  • Coordinates with data security to provide appropriate security and secondary authorization.
  • Assist with the development of the technical architectures. Ensures the database management systems and tools support the defined architectures and business needs.
  • Participates in the testing, evaluation, implementation, and training of DBMS and related software products.
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement projects or products as required; on-time, within budget, and with quality.
  • Communicates clearly with local and remote users.
  • Manage and monitor SLAs for uptime and performance of production databases.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Five years in the physical database design, development, test, installation, and performance tuning of Oracle databases in the UNIX (Sun Solaris preferred) environment.
  • Five years in the structured system life cycle processes for design, development, testing, integration, deployment, and maintenance of database models.
  • Knowledge of Oracle RAC, ASM, Data Guard, RMAN and Performance Tuning Techniques
  • Experience administering DB2 databases.
  • Experience with Oracle SQL, PL-SQL and SQL-Loader.
  • Experience in UNIX programming and shell scripting.
  • Ability to determine file organization and indexing methods for user applications under Oracle.
  • Experience in conducting performance, sizing, and optimization analysis using Oracle performance tools.
  • Specific experience/expertise using the Oracle RDBMS to implement large (GB to TB) databases.
  • Oracle DBA experience with Version 10g

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

Required:

  • A Bachelors’ degree in a computer-related area or applicable related work experience.
  • Solid work history.

  • Strong customer service focus with a penchant to seek root cause and solve problems
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong ability to work with other IT disciplines in the development of new business solutions and problem resolution
  • Ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to ‘think on your feet’ and make sound decisions that may directly impact production systems
  • Excellent follow-through.
