Role: Sybase Database Developer III

Location: Herndon, Virginia

Duration: 6 months

Scope overview:

Sybase T-SQL code is mainly located within the database as programming objects (stored procedures, views etc). However, there is considerable amount of code scattered throughout script files that are run as part of Perl

or shell script based batch processing as well as few Java source files used in CRASS middleware/UI.

 

The following gives the quantitative scope of the work involved in Sybase replacement.

1) Count of stored procs = Around 400

2) Count of tables = Around 215

3) Count of views = handful (<5)

4) Script based SQL code

 

Requirements:

·         At least 5 years of hands-on experience developing "database centric" applications using Perl on UNIX.

·         At least 5 years of hands-on experience in Database Design/Modeling, SQL, database stored procedures, query tuning/optimization

·         At least 5 years of hands-on experience using Sybase

·         At least 3 years of experience using either SQLServer or Oracle (with corresponding database native procedural language such as T-SQL and/or PL/SQL)

·         At least 2 years of hands-on experience using CVS

·         Should be adept at working in both Windows and UNIX (Solaris, AIX) platforms.

·         Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
