Position: Perl Developer
Location: King of Prussia, PA
Duration: 3+ months
TOP MUST HAVES: eCommerce, strong SQL/Oracle/PLSQL skills, ETL, UNIX/LINUX
Advanced Perl programming skills.
* Extensive development experience in a UNIX environment.
* Experience with Perl in a Web Development environment.
* Strong SQL or Oracle knowledge.
* Robust Understanding of Perl coding issues.
* Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills.
* Candidates must have expert Perl Scripting experience on a UNIX platform.
Responsibilities
- Delivery of quality applications on-time and on-budget
- Provide On-Call support on Weekdays and Weekends
- Work on Production Support Tickets
- Support code Branching and Deployments
- Create and manipulate large data exports for web stores, B2B partners, and customer service systems
- Management and execution against project plans and delivery commitments
- Responsible for ensuring SDLC standards and process are followed
- Work closely with the architects and technical managers/leads to develop the best technical design and development that align with business and partner requirements
- Create and execute appropriate quality plans, project plans, test strategies and processes for development activities in concert with business and project management efforts
- Properly document technical solutions, programming code, and project details according to ebay standards
- Build interfaces for importing/exporting 3rd party data feeds leveraging various external formats
- Develop scripts to enable reporting, monitoring and manipulation of data
- Engage and interact with peer developers and QA during the SDLC
- Manage image, content and search deployment for web sites
- Explore, research and implement new technologies to obtain increased efficiency for large dataset processing
- Perform database tuning and optimization for large datasets
- Implement schema changes for tables and indexes
Minimum Qualifications
- B.S. in Computer Science / Information Systems or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 5 years demonstrated experience in shell scripting using PERL and object-
oriented Perl in a Unix/Linux environment including use of Unix/Linux command sets
- In-depth knowledge of Oracle SQL and PLSQL
- Expert in Unix/Linux shell scripting using Bash
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently, under aggressive deadlines with minimal supervision
- Experience and demonstrated knowledge producing and manipulating large data sets of varying formats (i.e. XML, CSV, fixed length)
- Understanding of ETL methodologies
- Experience creating robust process designs
- Experience working with FTP, SFTP, and data encryption
Desirable Qualifications
- Familiarity/experience with Data Stage
- Familiarity/experience with Sterling Integrator
- Experience with PERL / HTML / JAVA / Java scripts / JSP
- Experience with business integration software
- Experience implementing data integrations with XML / SOAP technologies
- Experience with Verity search technology products
- Exposure to ecommerce / web based retail environments
- Exposure to object oriented programming, concepts and methodologies
- Experience with web based content / image / search processing
- Exposure to back-end web technologies (web/app servers, web services, etc.)
