Scope of The Project:
Reporting to the chief privacy officer within the enterprise privacy office (epo), this position will support epo initiatives critical to client information privacy compliance. This position will support the implementation of epo information privacy strategy and goals, which include various projects and programs central to the privacy function throughout the state agencies.
Daily Duties / Responsibilities:
Provides analytical support to the chief and deputy privacy officers, and acts as liaison to state agencies.
Develops and monitors privacy compliance processes.
Creates supporting artifacts such as presentations, fact sheets, information papers, and training materials.
Reviews agreements (e.g., business associate agreements, services contracts, and confidentiality and security agreements).
Initiates and conducts activities to create information privacy awareness and implementation of best practices.
Required skills (rank in order of importance):
working knowledge of fair information practice principles, u.s. office of management and budget privacy guidance, national institute of standards and technology controls, and implementation of privacy industry best practices.
Experience applying privacy principles to business processes.
Ability to analyze and respond to complex privacy scenarios in a way that is easily understood and implemented.
Skilled investigator in privacy issues.
Ability to conduct research on privacy related topics.
Ability to think critically, recognize potential problems, and apply new information in context.
Ability to develop effective presentations for audiences of varying organizational and technical levels.
Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS word, excel and power point.
Publisher and Visio preferred.
Ability to work independently, appropriately prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively.
Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
Preferred skills (rank in order of importance):
Intermediate to advanced proficiency in publisher and visio.
Familiarity of information privacy principles and federal privacy legislation.
Experience in a government environment.
Required education/certifications:
Bachelor's degree, plus minimum of 3 years of progressively increasing responsibility and experience in privacy policy and/or privacy program compliance
Preferred education/certifications:
Master's degree
International association of privacy professionals (iapp) or comparable certification
