Job Title : Hadoop Developer / Data Engineer

Description:
Our Client is looking for a data engineer who loves a challenge. You'll be designing, prototyping, and continuously improving S.a.a.S. solutions that are relevant to our customers and are developed in conjunction with product owners and data scientists. You'll be working with Microsoft Azure, the Hadoop ecosystem, various NoSQL solutions, and other Big Data platforms. The solutions you create will extract data from various sources, manipulate that data, and deliver value-added derived results to downstream consumers.
Our team is small and nimble with limited hierarchy and lots of ownership. You'll play an active role in building out our data analysis and S.a.a.S. capabilities. You'll report to the Director of Data Science and Analytics. The position will be based in Minneapolis, MN.
You're creative and technical. You're a quick learner with strong communication skills. You are great at translating data analysis concepts into actual algorithms and systems. You have experience working with statistical algorithms and have an intuitive sense about large data sets. You know your way around the various components of distributed computing and SOA. You're intimately familiar with various ways of implementing analytical logic, including scripting, procedural coding, and SQL. You've got strong skills in problem solving and logic, and are self-directed. You're energized by working in a collaborative team environment.
Basic qualifications:
· A bachelor's degree in statistics, engineering, computer science, or a related discipline is required.
· 3 years' experience creating data-based solutions on a distributed platform with specific experience working with tools such as R, SPARK, Hadoop, and Cassandra and you know at least several of the following: Java/J2EE, Python, Perl, .NET, SQL, C/C , C#, and shell scripting.
Additional qualifications:
· Preferably, you also have knowledge of Microsoft Azure and MS SQL Server or other relational databases (such as MySQL, Postgres, Teradata, Green Plum, and Aster).
· Fearless with an innovative mindset.
· Ability to effectively articulate technical challenges and solutions.
· Deal well with ambiguous/undefined problems; ability to think abstractly.
