Functional Automation Test Engineer
Location: Cincinnati OH
Web Application Team
The tester supports quality assurance programs and processes in alignment with QA strategy.
The tester is responsible for providing feedback on artifacts developed during requirements and analysis phase within client projects; authoring test cases; and performing test execution for both project and support related activities. The testers will be expected to do some manual testing as well as automation scripting and test execution with Selenium.
Essential Job Functions:
- Work within various test methodologies such as SAFE agile
- Functional Automation test script development using Modular frame work scripting methodologies
- Create QA Task List in order to meet objectives and deadlines
- Participate in Requirement & Design Doc review session; evaluate requirements & design docs from a quality test automation standpoint
- Create high level Tests for automation
- Execute Test scripts to validation correct functionality of application
- Manage test coverage based on risk analysis
- Use SQL for back-end database validation
- Document defects and evaluate priority of defect based on overall application functionality
- Coordinate Test script Reviews with stakeholders are being held as appropriate.
- Perform various types of testing including white box, integration, back-end DB validation, system testing as needed
- Adhere to requirement review, defect writing & test script writing guidelines
- Coordinate testing efforts between 3rd party testing team.
- Keep Lead Tester informed of current state of quality and test progress
- Ensure completion of all deliverables within schedule, budget and quality constraints.
- Participate in Root Cause Analysis sessions
- Ensure that projects follow prescribed software development life cycle standards.
- Develop and maintain good relationships with project team.
- Identify obstacles and roadblocks; and offer suggestions to work around obstacles
- Help drive and improve QA process within the team you are assigned
Requirements:
The ideal candidate would possess:
Team/Position specific requirements
· 4+ years of relevant experience in software quality assurance
· Prior experience in Agile software development methodology (SAFE approach preferred)
· Strong understanding of test automation concepts and best practices
· Strong understanding of regression testing concepts and best practices
· Strong scripting/coding experience in Selenium (Java development experience)
· Prior experience with Jira for defect tracking
· Ability to succeed and focus in a fast paced environment with noise/distractions
Other general requirements
· Understanding and utilization of risk based testing techniques
· Understanding of the various types of testing (smoke, integration, system, user acceptance and regression testing)
· Ability to analyze requirements and translate them into usable test cases
· Ability to conduct root cause analysis on system issues
· Ability to interpret test plans and their objectives
· Ability to document defects with clear information and steps to recreate
· Ability to accurately estimate work assignments
· Adept at managing priorities and multi-tasking to meet assignment deadlines
· Assertiveness in problem solving and brain storming
· Excellent team work and collaboration skills
· Ability to effectively communicate status of assignments and escalate issues
· Bachelor's degree in IS or related equivalent work experience
