Technical Recruiters Need Synon developer

I would like to know your interest about an opportunity that we are currently working on. The role description is as follows:

 

 

Role1: Synon developer

Location : NYC

Duration 1 year

 

One of the largest pension systems in the United States, servicing 195K members, is looking for a Synon Developer for developing, enhancing and supporting business software solutions for complex and large scale projects using data modeling, database design, programming, unit testing, quality assurance testing, and implementation support.

A DAY IN THE LIFE:

·         Maintain existing system, development of new systems/solutions, and perform major enhancements to existing systems using CA:2E toolset and other relevant technologies.

·         Analyze and document system requirements.

·         Document detail design to program specification level, based on system requirements.

·         Research assignments and document all changes/enhancements. Comply with programming standards and other policies/procedures.

·         Organize/participate in meetings with user groups and other IT areas as well as attending/participating in weekly team meetings with PMO.

·         Keep managers abreast of problems or questions that may prevent or delay work and keep them informed of changes needed in estimated hours/completion dates.

·         Learn relevant tools/technologies used in-house and use as part of solutions development and SDLC process.

·         Perform unit level testing to identify/resolve problems before modification or enhancement is promoted to the Quality Assurance group for integration level testing.

·         Review test scripts and notify QA of test scenarios that should be added/modified.

·         Work with QA team as required and perform systems testing of Synon and other related applications.

·         Generate required test databases, provide support and assistance to user community and QA team testers during User Acceptance testing and QA testing, and accurate and timely analysis of problems identified during User Acceptance testing and QA testing.

WHAT GETS YOU THE JOB:

·         5+ years using CA:2E (AllFusion/2E, Synon/2E, Advantage/2E) toolset

·         8+ years of development experience in application development with IBM-i (System i, i-Series, AS/400) using RPG, COBOL, Query, QL and CL tools.

·         Experience on working with and supporting multiple concurrent projects/programs.

·         Strong troubleshooting skills, and diligent in the pursuit of issue resolutions

·         Code with a minimal amount of guidance and meet project deadlines.

·         Ability to exercise sound judgment in evaluating situations and in making decisions

·         Ability to create end user documentation and to provide demos and training on the developed application

·         Ability to perform functional testing, Integration testing and Systems testing of Synon applications and other IBM-i applications as part of Quality Assurance team (QA team) using generally accepted testing principles

·         Ability to learn ETL and Reporting tools and use as part of projects for implementing software solution.

·         Proven knowledge in all stages of the software development life cycle.

·         History of working independently with little direction.

·         Demonstrated ability to mentor and coach other team members, work to deadlines, provide accurate estimates for the assigned and planned tasks.

·         Ability to debug COBOL programs generated out of Synon toolset is desired.

·         Strong written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively
