LINUX INFRASTRUCTURE ENGINEER WITH JAVA EXPERIENCE (LOCATION: CHEVY

CHASE, MD, RATE: $62

 

The Service Infrastructure engineer works on a small team that

configures and maintains infrastructure integrity for several

applications running in several development environments, and also

instructs/assists Middleware engineers to do the same in the upper

environments, including production. This is a heavily hands-on

position, involving both tactical infrastructure development and

day-to-day infrastructure support. The Service infrastructure is

heavily biased towards Linux-based application, web, and database

servers. However, Windows servers are also used for some of the

applications and for the Mongo databases. Therefore, the ideal

candidate will be comfortable and proficient working with both Linux

and Windows Server operating systems.

 

Common Infrastructure Team job tasks:

· Provide front line response, including 24 hour on-call response,

for production outages and slowdowns.

· Provide front line response for non-production outages and

slowdowns during normal business hours.

· Perform capacity analysis for all environments and implement

infrastructure changes or upgrades to ensure adequate capacity is

maintained.

· Maintain inventory and status of all Service servers in all

environments.

· Develop, maintain, and execute automated healthcheck scripts for

all environments.

· Effectively interact with supporting teams such as Network, Server,

Middleware, Splunk, and DBA teams, to maintain reliable service levels

in all environments.

· Create and maintain infrastructure topology diagrams.

· Assist with resolution of application build and deploy issues.

 

_REQUIRED SKILLS/ YEARS OF EXPERIENCE NEEDED:_

· _Minimum 5 years' experience_

· _Strong Linux Skills_

· _Experienced with Apache_

· _Strong Java Skills_

· _Excellent analytic / problem solving skills_

· _Good communication skills_

· _Adept at coordinating with several teams to research and resolve

issues._
