Position  = COGNOS DEVELOPER
Location = Columbus, Ohio ( Local or Near By)
Duration = 9+ months

 

Interview = In Person only,
Interview Dates: Week of Sept 29th

 

Skills:
Experience with SQL programming against an Oracle RDBMS on data warehouse or business intelligence projects.
Experience with business intelligence tools including IBM Cognos
Experience with development and support using dimensional/star-schema based data structures including fact tables (commonly referred to as Kimball)
Experience designing and developing Cognos (version 8.2 and above) reports using Report Studio, Analysis Studio and Active Reports

 

 Description:
The Cognos developer will be primarily involved in developing reports using Cognos Report Studio,
(candidate MUST have STRONG exp/skills with Cognos Report Studio on DW or BI projects)
and performing Unit testing.  They will collaborate with framework modelers, data analysts, business analysts, testing specialists, and business customers to create business reports that are accurate, reliable, attractive, timely, and relevant.

 

Mandatory Skills:
•8 or more years of experience with SQL programming against an Oracle RDBMS on data warehouse or business intelligence projects.
•7 or more years of experience with business intelligence tools including IBM Cognos
•5 or more years of experience with development and support using dimensional/star-schema based data structures including fact tables (commonly referred to as Kimball).
•4 years or more experience designing and developing Cognos (version 8.2 and above) reports using Cognos Report Studio, Analysis Studio and Active Reports

 

Desired Skills:
•Proficiency with Cognos 10.2 and Workspace Advance features
•Software development experience with Oracle RDBMS 11g
•Software development experience with IBM DB2 SQL
•Experience with HTML and JavaScript, as used for Cognos reporting
•Experience writing design specifications, test scripts and other required documentation
•Experience developing queries against normalized as well as dimensional data structures
•Experience establishing standards based on industry best practices
•Knowledge of property and casualty insurance systems
•Knowledge of Ohio BWC business model and processes
•Experience using Oracle SQL*Plus, Toad, Oracle SQL Developer
•Experience in measuring and tuning the performance of Oracle data warehouse SQL queries
•Skill in the use of organizational tools & methods (MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio, Clarity)
•Experience performing peer reviews
•Ability to effectively communicate with business and IT staff
•Ability to quickly adapt to changes, enhancements, and new technologies
•Ability to establish and maintain positive collaborative relationships with team members
