Title: SQL DATABASE DEVELOPER
Duration: 12+ Months
Locations: SAN DIEGO, CA
Description:
SQL Database Developer in San Diego, CA area. This is a 12+ Month contract with a immediate start.
Responsible for rapidly developing database systems and processes, primarily in Microsoft SQL Server to support the organization s on-going and rapidly changing data needs. This individual will work closely with the team on database and decision support projects that contribute to a comprehensive view of the company's market position, on-going performance, and strategic options, as well as providing insight on the existing and potential customer base. The position will be responsible for developing and executing strategic database solutions, as well as prioritizing/supporting ad hoc requests from other areas of the company.
Major Responsibilities:
• Designs logical and physical databases and coordinates database development as part of project team, applying knowledge of database design standards and database management systems.
• Reviews project requests as they relate to database requirements. Estimates time and cost required to accomplish project.
• Analyzes software and hardware requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints.
• Designs, creates and/or modifies database objects and/or processes to meet project specifications.
• Designs and implements workflow to accomplish automated database and systems tasks, such as (but not limited to) daily ETL (extract, transform, load) activities.
• Coordinates changes to databases. Codes and/or reviews, tests, and implements database changes, applying knowledge of database management systems.
• Identifies tests and corrects errors, and refines changes to databases.
• Analyzes user requirements, procedures, and/or problems and provides suggestions to improve existing database systems.
• Reviews development of upcoming software/hardware releases and makes appropriate recommendations for implementation to improve existing processes.
• Monitors database activities, performance and/or errors in all environments. Implements changes as necessary to support development to production life cycle.
• Develops and maintains physical database documentation, such as location, space requirements, and access methods, to protect company data resources against unauthorized access and accidental destruction, according to computer industry standards and knowledge of database management systems.
• Assists in production activities that relate to database performance and/or errors. Monitors database performance and implements changes as necessary to maintain desired level of performance.
• Evaluate and recommend software to simplify and/or automate business processes.

Required Skills and Abilities:
• 8+ years of experience working with systems development and database management systems, preferably Microsoft SQL Server.
• Bachelor's degree, preferably in computer science or other field with equivalent experience.
• Experience coding T-SQL scripts, stored procedures, triggers, views, user-defined functions, ad hoc queries, DTS/SSIS packages and ETL solutions.
• Experience in database administration, performance tuning, and backup/recovery strategies.
• Experience in database design and modeling techniques using Visio or other modeling software.
• .NET programming, C#, ASP, PHP
• Accurate and detail oriented.
• Highly motivated, a team player and a self-starter.
• Strong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills.
• Scripting experience in PowerShell, VBScript, DOS a plus
• Finance or banking experience a plus
• QRM experience a plus
