Role: Oracle DBA
Location: Schenectady, NY 12304
Duration: 24 Months
Rate $55/hr on C2C
Need H1B/GC/EAD number as well
Duties will include
· Assist the Database team with various ongoing tasks, including but not limited to database installation, configuration and hardening, backup validation, performance tuning, replication setup, and general database monitoring, as well as recommend best practices and procedures;
· Install, upgrade and maintain Oracle 11g database on AIX, including backup and recovery;
· Allocating storage and planning future storage requirements for the database system;
· Work with teams of application programmers, system architects to create solutions to meet business goals;
· Perform off-hours (evening or weekend work) as needed for emergency or maintenance tasks that are performed during the agency established maintenance windows;
· Provide support for internal users and external data exchange partners;
· Perform optimization and tuning activities, including capacity planning, tracking historical usage, trending future resource needs, and modifying resource allocations as needed;
· Provides recommendations on technical architecture;
· Provides recommendations on Oracle Advance Security including TDE, Oracle Wallet and remote authentication;
· Provides hands-on training and mentoring for other database administrative staff.
Required Skills
84+ months experience as Oracle DBA in AIX/Unix environment
84+ months of experience with database compliance, security, and auditing including Oracle Advanced Security, remote authentication, Oracle wallet configuration.
60+ months of experience with implementations, upgrades, conversions and consolidation projects involving Oracle databases
36+ months experience in Oracle database, character set conversion to unicode and migration on different platforms;
36+ months experience with database connection pooling, and use of Oracle DBMS packages for auditing
36+ months experience with Oracle WebLogic application servers and application authentication configuration.
36+ months experience with use of third party tools for connecting Oracle databases to SQL Server databases.
36+ months experience with SQL and PL/SQL scripting.
36+ months experience in shell scripting environments (for example: C, Korn, Bourne, Bash)
24+ months experience in writing technical documentation that provides a record of tasks performed and how to support and implement them in the future.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
