Sr. Infrastructure Systems Engineer
The Sr. Infrastructure Systems Engineer will be expected to be the SME of the virtualized Windows and Linux environment and take on the end-to-end design & engineering of our new internal environment including the development of documentation and automated processes and workflows.
The processing includes monitoring, new deployments and retires, patching, backup and archive.
You will work with multiple project teams and partners to design solutions, components and interfaces to help drive to an automated virtualize environment.
Once the solutions are designed & engineered to suit Clients requirements you would be accountable for guiding the implementation and adoption of the solutions.
Providing engineering level support escalation, for the solutions during deployment.
In this role, you will be responsible for gathering and documenting requirements, setting up environments; installing & configuring products, generating architecture and engineering documentation capturing the details for DEV, UAT and PROD implementations, and coordinating the implementations via the appropriate teams.
Also, need to generate quality detailed documentation for all operating teams and train them so that they can take over the BAU maintenance functions of the product/solution implementations.
Extensive hands-on experience with engineering, installation, & setup of servers (VMware ESXi, RHEL, Windows) in a large environment and installation, configuration and functional testing of third party products; requires very good understanding of storage, database, and networking technologies.
NOTE: This is a senior hands-on engineering role and not an admin or PM role so candidates with just server, network or storage administration experience, and/or just project management experience need not apply.
Telecommuting/Remote work in NOT an option.
Additionally, the Senior Infrastructure Engineer must have the skills and experience to fulfill the following responsibilities:
Architect and Engineer solutions based on virtualization & automation suite of products and solutions:
VMware vSphere 4/5, VMware vCenter Orchestrator (vCO), RHEL 4, 5, 6, Windows Server, Configurations Management, etc
Define, present and recommend designs with the pro's and con's where appropriate
Identify areas for improving efficiency and of repeatable processes and recommend solutions for improvement.
Workflow development
System monitoring & performance – monitoring of disk space, system and application errors, memory and swap space utilization, disk performance, CPU, and processes.
Backup and Archive
Completion of tasks within time and cost constraints and ensure that technical and functional objectives are met
Identify and engage internal stakeholders
Interface with management to report on project and program milestones
Present and/or escalate project and technical needs
Communicate progress toward daily and weekly deliverables
Mentor other engineers
Performs related duties & responsibilities as requested.
Minimum Qualifications for Grade
Applicant MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant:
Bachelor's Degree and/or its equivalent required.
6+ years related experience
