Job Description:
The position will be responsible for assisting in the planning, design, installation, support, maintenance backup and recovery of server and storage hardware/software in a multi-platform mission critical environment. This position requires extensive experience and a high level of technical understanding of the technology under the scope of the role. This person will be responsible for daily system maintenance tasks, service delivery, system functionality and availability and keeping technology current with the industry standards and best practices. Under supervision from the Manager, Engineer will participate in departmental projects by assisting in the development of project plans, documentation, and performing of project tasks. This person will be responsible for making recommendations for forecasting the growth of the environment, designing/engineering recommendations for upgrades and redesigns to stay current, competitive and provide an optimized backend infrastructure. This resource will also be required to participate in an on-call support rotation.
Technical knowledge of LAN/WAN Networking, NBU AIR/OST, broad Operating System knowledge, Storage Area Networks is must have.
Technical expertise with software with Symantec Netbackup 7 and or EMC data Domain is ideal.
Technical expertise with hardware such as IBM Tape Libraries, Data Domain Appliances, Symantec PureDisk Appliances is required. Symantec Opsware and EMC EDLs is good to have and virtualization knowledge is a plus.
