Position Description:
The required position is for a project manager to lead multiple Information Technology (IT) projects in support of the Department of Community Health (DCH). Potential projects include: The OC4J (Oracle Application Server Containers for Java EE) Conversation Project which will convert OC4J to another technology, requiring approximately 12 applications to be redeveloped using the new technology. The Oracle Forms and Reports Project which will redevelop over 15 applications due to product end of life, and loss of vendor support. DCH Third Part Liability (TPL) Attorney Collaboration Project which will automate an existing manual, paper based process. DCH Office of Inspector General Recovery Auditor Contractor (RAC) Project which is for the creation and submission of Medicaid Health Care claims data to HMS, the State of Michigan's RAC contractor and the processing of the return files. The project manager will be assigned projects in the portfolio (as noted above or other projects) as prioritized by the State. As a member of the Program Management Office (PMO), the project manager will follow the State's SUITE methodology (and required deliverables), and utilize the State's project management tools, to perform project planning through project execution.
Required Skills:
Solid skills in project scheduling utilizing a project scheduling tool such as MS Project
Solid skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Strong leadership and communication skills
Ability to communicate technical terminology at levels appropriate to the audience both orally and in writing
Preferred Skills:
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
Required Experience:
7+ years of experience in project management utilizing a formal project management methodology, including experience in project planning, scheduling, tracking, issue management, risk management, change management, and status reporting.
7+ years of experience in project scheduling utilizing a project scheduling tool such as MS Project.
7+ years of experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Experience:
Experience with State of Michigan SUITE Project Management Methodology (PMM) and System Engineering Methodology (SEM) preferred.
Additional Information:
The technical environment for performing the work includes, but is not limited to, Microsoft Windows XP, Microsoft Windows 7, Microsoft Office 2010 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project), Compuware Change point, and Microsoft Outlook/Exchange.
