Position : System Programmer/Software Programmer
Location : New Heaven CT
Duration : 1 Year Contract
Summary:
This position is dedicated to developing software tools for laboratory workflow processing and analysis of clinical genetic data and assists in the continuous improvement of the facility's Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Participates in implementation of code and system development
Participates in the gathering of software feature requirements through iterative review sessions with Lab Scientists
Participates in software qualification activities prior to rollout
Participates in the development of test cases
Provides complete deliverables in accordance with timelines
Works closely with Bioinformatics Scientist
Performs other duties as requested
Education/Experience (Minimum): BS in Computer Science or a related field and 2+ years experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Thorough coding knowledge of at least 2 of the following: C++, Java, Perl or python
Candidate must have experience in an object oriented programming language. C++ or Java preferred.
Candidate should have experience in a scripting language; either Perl or Python are of equivalent weight. • Some experience in large project design, implementation and delivery preferred.
Some experience in large project design, implementation and delivery preferred.
Good understanding of modern development methodology, Object-Oriented preferred.
Familiarity with databases and T-SQL
Excellent Planning and organizational skills
Outstanding analytical and problem solving skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to prioritize and respond accordingly in a rapidly changing environment.
Ability to maintain confidentiality
