Title: VMWare Engineer
Location: San Francisco, CA
Duration: 6+Months
In person / Skype interview after phone interview
Job Description:
Client is looking for an experienced VMWare engineer to package our distributed application into one or more secure and easy to administer virtual appliances.
Required Skills:
· Experience with the latest vSphere and vCloud technology
· Experience creating VMWare Virtual Appliances using VMWare Studio and packaging them for hosting by Resilient as well as shipping to customers including scripting installation and setup
· Ability to create a simple web app to configure the virtual appliance without logging into the operating system
· Familiarity with OS and VM configuration and system hardening
· Comfort with the moving parts and securing of Java and Tomcat based server applications
· Knowledge of design and testing Virtual Appliances for monitor ability and high availability
· Knows how to engage and choose a hosted vendor for creating and testing Virtual Appliances (No local hardware is available)
· Can create internal and external setup, configuration, and operations guides with assistance from a technical writer
· Ability to effectively transfer knowledge at the end of an engagement
· Hands-on "doer" who can work independently and share results effectively
