Sr. Database Administrator (DBA)
Location: Emeryville, CA

Job Description:
Responsibilities:
- As of part of the TechOps team, participate in 24x7 production support, on a rotation basis, of our production databases. Be flexible and available to work shifts that may be outside of standard business hours. Respond to alerting system in a timely manner and quickly be able to identify, troubleshoot and remediate problems in SQL server; research larger, more complex problems to solution; occasionally engage MS support for assistance in difficult issues
- Manage and administer for 25+ production SQL Servers (50+ DBs) along with 4 non production (development) environment. Performance tuning: review and analyze production DB logs/performance analysis reports; make recommendations relating to performance and efficiency of application SQLs, data storage and processing; troubleshoot and problem-solve support for database related issues; backup and recovery of production databases ensuring minimum downtime and maximum recoverability.
- Support software development process including SQL changes review to ensure optimized release to production and general DBA support for development and QA database environments.
- Participate in release activities; review DB code from developers prior to production release; assist with deploying DB related changes to Release and production systems
- Ensure and proactively monitor availability and performance of the production databases
- Manage database Change Management to production database, including coordination and testing of all database changes.
- Develop and document appropriate database standards, policies, and procedures to enable standardization, ensure integrity, and promote accountability
- Contribute to DB systems architectural decisions and participate in cross functional meetings as needed
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a SQL Server DBA supporting always on production DB environment
- Expert DBA knowledge and experience with MS SQL server highly desired. Proficient with Microsoft (MS SQL, Window Server, etc) technology is a big plus
- Experience working with dedicated storage environments, preferably NetApp, including SAN and NAS interconnects and switching is a plus
- Experience with open source databases; MongoDB experience a plus
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure, time sensitive environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, particularly the ability to verbalize or express complex technical concepts effectively verbally and in writing
