Network Architect

1 year contract

Boston, MA

     Duties:

• Collaborate on strategy and architecture with ITD, vendors and senior IT staff, propose solutions, build consensus and execute those solutions
• Provide recommendations on standards and procedures for technical infrastructure
• Provide technical insight and guidance on system designs to infrastructure staff as required
• Utilize advanced infrastructure architectural skills with knowledge of (network) virtualization platforms
• Identify opportunities to improve opportunities to improve architecture by utilizing new technology that is in line with ITD Technical Architecture
  Coordinate system testing of solutions
• Coordinate Production implementation of solutions with production staff
  Participate in team meetings; resolve action items
• Participate in a Performance Review of the deliverables and services provided at intervals of not more than 6 months

Qualifications:

• Bachelor degree specializing in engineering

• Minimum of 5 years of enterprise or service provider network design experience
• CCNA certification or equivalent preferred.
• MassNet will carry several types of traffic including time-sensitive packet based voice services so some experience with QoS architectures is also essential.
• Knowledge of Cisco/Juniper router and switch products is essential.
  Must have excellent verbal, written and traffic analysis skills.
• Practical experience working with WAN circuit providers and troubleshooting VoIP deployments is essential.
• Addressing experience is essential.
• Knowledge of Layer 2 and Layer 3 MPLS requirements gathering, network design and cost estimation is essential
• Knowledge of network operations and security best practices preferred.
