Job Description:
The Enterprise Application Engineer will develop, maintain, and administer internally developed applications, data integrations, and third-party software. The ideal candidate is capable of building applications in Java, web user interfaces in HTML/CSS/JavaScript, and integrations using JSON/XML Restful and SOAP APIs. The successful candidate will work quickly and efficiently with minimal supervision to implement quality solutions to solve often difficult business problems. Must be available foron-call or occasional after hour support when needed, but the candidate more importantly strives to build solutions that are reliable and fault-tolerant so require very little or no production support.
Responsibilities:
Design and build intelligent integrations between internal and 3rd party applications on a custom Java back-end using a variety of technologies including SOAP and Restful web services; JSON and XML.
Design and build thoughtful forms and workflows for managing complex business processes, using modern web technologies including HTML5/CSS/JavaScript and open source libraries such as JQuery.
Interact and collaborate with teammates, internal customers, external vendors, and management to ensure quality in all that is delivered.
Evaluate and recommend new technologies.
Use strong troubleshooting / debugging skills to solve production issues.
Reverse-engineer complex business processes via source code, documentation, discussions with stakeholders, and other means.
Write, debug, and optimize SQL queries and stored procedures
Adhere to formal and informal coding conventions and style, as well as recommend and implement new conventions with the team.
Create automated monitoring capabilities, alerting mechanisms, job tasks, and identify performance trends and generate maintenance reports.
Respond to and resolve system alerts and provide problem details and resolution to other team members.
Communicate with end customers and resolve open tickets and issues.
Mentor peers and end users.
Qualifications:
5+ years of experience with Java, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
4-year degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Proficient in at least one of MySql, SQL Server, Oracle.
Ability to perform under pressure, handle multiple responsibilities, prioritize and multi-task
Ability to present information in a clear and concise manner and comprehend and respond to questions coherently.
Meet deliverable dates and SLAs, balancing production support and longer-term projects.
Experience with most of the following:
Restful web services.
SOAP web services.
JSON / XML.
JQuery / JQuery UI.
Other web templates such as Twitter Bootstrap, HTML5 Boilerplate, etc.
