Interview: Phone then face to face Job Summary: The Senior Business Analyst on the Strategic Marketing Solutions team will act as a liaison between MIS and key requirements stakeholders – including analytic teams, marketing teams, sales and support, et al. – in the ongoing efforts to build out a comprehensive enterprise data warehouse for the Finance & Risk division . The Senior Business Analyst will play a key role in a variety of data acquisition and integration projects, from soliciting and documenting requirements through testing and delivery. Essential Responsibilities •Work with subject matter experts to discover, define, assess, and document business needs and requirements. Must be able to quickly establish credibility while working in new subject areas and with various areas of the business (marketing, analytics, finance, sales, customer admin, support, etc). Drive toward on-time, quality deliverables in a highly complex and dynamic business environment, while actively managing stakeholder expectations. •Collaborate closely with MIS to deliver the right solutions. Must effectively: oArticulate requirements to technical teams in a variety of ways, including via logical diagrams, use cases, data samples, and anecdotes. oEngage in prioritization and problem-solving with technical resources in order to deliver robust solutions as quickly as possible oRepresent business interests and ensure that all technical designs meet or exceed business needs •Support the enterprise data warehouse project managers by: oCollaborating on the creation and maintenance of realistic timelines o identifying dependencies and risks/mitigation plans o contributing regular updates that inform project status reporting •Integration and user-acceptance testing: build test cases and test plans, partner closely with dependent internal testing teams, and collaborate with MIS on management and delivery of testing environments. •Serve as an on-going subject matter expert and evangelist for data and associated capabilities. Help users understand and take advantage of the benefits of the enterprise data warehouse, as well as associated marketing automation, business intelligence and analytic capabilities. Required Skills and Experience •3-5 years experience in a technical or business analyst capacity in conjunction with the development or maintenance of an enterprise data warehouse. (Candidates with 3-5 years of experience as data warehouse project managers will also be considered if there is significant and relevant business analyst or technical experience on projects other than data warehousing.) •Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and approaches, including ETL; slowly-changing dimensions; entity resolution and matching; data modeling approaches including star schema, snowflake and normalized; et al. •Elicit requirements: ability to learn quickly, engage deeply in new subject areas, and establish credibility with an eye toward drawing out complete and robust requirements from variety of stakeholders •Document requirements: Clearly, concisely, and completely document business needs via user stories/use cases, data flows, logical data models, corresponding ETL and BI requirements, et al. Document current state data and business process. Build, manage, and execute sophisticated test cases and testing plans. •Relay requirements: articulate business needs and complex business problems, to technical audiences and, where necessary, in technical terms; conversely, articulate technical concepts, particularly development challenges and risks, in business terms and with an eye toward business impacts •Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to provide meaningful, regular status communications at multiple levels of detail •Well-versed in data profiling, data manipulation and/or data analysis. Ability to write simple queries and sample/select large data sets from disparate data sources using SAS, SQL, Access, BI (Business Objects), OLAP or other tools •Strong organizational skills and attention to detail •Ability to engage virtually with distributed teams •Ability to work autonomously and without direct supervision |
