The Security Engineer is the intermediate position between the analyst and architect levels in the security (Information Security/InfoSec) family. This role is responsible for System Security Management and the software enhancement & functionality. This position partners closely with the Security Architects in order to execute designed plans and maintaining those systems and ensure data loss prevention. Identifies software tools with inadequate functionality and creates new solutions for system enhancements. Responsible for keeping security documentation up to date.
Duties & Responsibilities:
System Security Management 75%
Responsible for system security management including account management, network based vulnerability scanning, intrusion detection, proxies, encryption and data loss prevention.
Oversee functionality of security systems to ensure security policies are being withheld including internet browsing restrictions and software downloads.
Responsible for maintenance and monitoring of security systems
Responsible for managing change management process on security systems
Responsible for keeping as-build documentation up to date.
Execute enhancement efforts for one or more security product implementations
Responsible for a designated set of software tools and the security functionality of these tools.
Responsible for management and monitoring of the VTM process.
Use deductive reasoning to identify origin of issue to facilitate remediation.
Partners with Security Architects to understand system requirements and functionality and implements changes to system against the requirements and functional design.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
This position requires a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field with 4 - 5 years of IT with security experience specifically writing security requirements, and potentially reviewing firewall configurations.
This position must have some knowledge of both UNIX and Windows operating systems system administration experience required. Understanding of network protocols and experience in more than one of the following: Web Proxies, Firewalls Intrusion Detection tools, File integrity monitoring tools, Vulnerability assessment tools, Security Information and Event Management, Secure Email Gateways, Whole Disk Encryption, Data Loss Prevention
Experience with developing and executing security operation processes and procedures. Demonstrate a high level of analytical and problem-solving capability along with the ability to articulate the decision process to multiple management levels as it relates to both business and technical roles. Ability to conduct research into security issues and products as required. This position requires the ability to exercise sound judgment, working with a minimum of Supervision. Effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
