Data Analyst

Quincy, MA

Length: 6 + Months

· Responsible for developing and documenting system and functional requirements for new or changing applications within a business Underwriting systems and processes.

· Exhibits strong interpersonal relationships with business partners, project managers, the IT delivery teams and Quality Assurance.

· Serve as consultants to business units in planning and coordinating systems analysis, design, and implementation of projects.

· Provides consultation to project teams and ensures traceability of business requirements through all stages of development.

· Ensures that the design and integration of proposed systems, software, and hardware solutions leads to the development and growth of the business through effective use of technology.

· Identifies, proposes, and influences business solutions.

· Works directly with business partners to understand business objectives and formulate solutions to parallel and strengthen overall business strategies.

· Contributes to business strategic planning by providing objective feedback, insight, and recommendations (which may include non-technical solutions).


Key Accountabilities:

  • Applies strong functional and application knowledge while analyzing business partners' operations and determining opportunities for improvement
  • Develops and documents technical and functional requirements that translate business requirements associated with new and changing business capabilities into a technical solution.
  • Drives development of technical designs and solutions
  • Intermediary between the business and the technical resources to ensure technical design, development and testing meet the needs of the business
  • Ensures traceability of business requirements through all stages of development, participates in review of testing strategy, plan, data and results
  • Works with counterparts at Client outsource vendors to monitor and ensure appropriate support levels
  • Analyzes and troubleshoots production/system issues, identifies root causes and develops recommendations for improvement
  • Ability to identify upstream and downstream impacts that system enhancements may have on system processing and business
  • Develop a strong understanding of the business and technical aspects of all Underwriting applications to help guide projects towards optimum solutions.
  • Works closely with end-users to understand their business requirements, and creates decision support systems, data analysis tools, and reports for tactical business problem solving.
  • Works with project developers to integrate effective database designs.
  • Acts as a consultant in the areas of conceptual and physical database design, development, implementation and maintenance.

  • Technical proficiency with analytics systems and Excel, PowerPoint, and Word applications

· Development background

· Experience with complex integrations

· Understanding of Database Development and or Administration skills (SQL Server, Oracle)

· Familiarity with Window Administration

· Ability to manage and coordinate complex integrations

· ETL Development and or support skills

  • Expertise in design (data modeling, ETL, end user tools, web portals)

· Strong data analysis and BI skills; Development and or DBA experience

· Technologies – MS Access, ODI, Informatica, SQL Server, Cognos, SAS
