Role: Systems Engineers

Term: 6+ months

Location: Long Island, NY

The key components of this role are UNIX / Linux system support, experience with mobile application support (see required skills) and/or video streaming support (see required skills).

Requirements:

. Understanding, in depth, the business processes supported by the system.
. Deploy new applications and bug fixes across multiple server and operating system platforms.
. Ensure that applications are maintained in a manner that supports delivery of services to multiple platforms, resilience, and performance.
. Ensure continuity and quality by owning the resolution of issues across platforms.
. Ensure standards and guidelines are applied and maintained across applications for administration, deployment and monitoring over a range of platforms that largely comprises industry standard components.
. Ensure application and service processes and outputs are error free and complete.
. Identifying faults and issues and recommending appropriate paths to resolution, and fixing as appropriate.
. Keep abreast of technical developments of operational importance and to participate in developing or setting standards as directed.
. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders.
. Undertake advanced system administration tasks as required e.g. to support problem resolution.
. Support the development teams in deploying applications and solving problems.
. Support QA teams in configuration of applications for testing.
. Ensure appropriate contingency procedures are in place for applications and that they are regularly tested.

. Contribute to process development and best practice.
. Ensure that applications and related services are documented and kept current.

Required Skills:

. 5 years systems administration / engineering experience.
. 2+ years minimum experience with integration and support of application software on PC, Apple and Android devices.
. Experience in a variety of Operational Support Environments.
. Knowledge of TCP/IP and related protocols.
. Experienced in the use of statistical analysis tool.
. Knowledge of Linux and general IT support required, experience in cable head end and or Cloud support IT model a plus.
. Detail oriented with a strong analytical ability.
. Hands on experience with HLS (Apple Adaptive Streaming), HSS (Microsoft smooth streaming), DRM, Video Segmenter/Packager, CDN (edge device), encryption.
. Must have hands on experience working with wireless networks.
. Must have strong network connectivity troubleshooting skills.
. Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent.

The following skills are a plus:

. Apache, Playready (Microsoft DRM), jailbreaking knowledge, wireless device architecture.
. Hands on experience in a QA lab environment responsible for installation, configuration, integration and validation of lab components (i.e. servers, software, networks).
. RF / Video Head-End experience a plus.
