Skills Required and Job Description:
| Main skills: Logical and physical data modeling, Data warehousing, Teradata, SQL.
Analyze source system data to understand the data structures, definitions and anomalies. Research and document data definitions for all subject areas and primary data sets supporting the core Commercial applications. Develop data management documentation for communication and education to the Business and Information Technology communities. Conduct data classification, defining data taxonomy and data ontology for key subject areas, data structures and solutions. Regularly interact with business subject matter experts to collect data definition and data classification information. Define best practices and standards in the data modeling process. Participate in projects to support development staff in their implementation of the model. Integrate newly sourced data into a common data model. Provide direction for broader data management needs of business unit and the enterprise. Qualifications Basic Requirements Minimum 7 years experience as a Data Modeler. Erwin Data Modeling tool experience required. At least 2 years experience in Requirements and Architectural Decisions Proven success managing effective relationships with business stakeholders and customers Demonstrated experience with designing architectures and implementing related solutions Strong experience with conceptual, logical and physical (relational and dimensional) modeling. Physical model/design on MPP databse architectures like Teradata, Netezza and Postgress/Greenplum will be plus. Experience with modeling for Data Warehouse/Data Mart, Master Data Management and Metadata Management processes Candidate should have strong leadership skills along with the ability to deal with conflict resolution. Will be leading meetings and discussions. Hands on SQL, data staging techniques, metadata tools and data base design including data integration/ETL and BI/reporting tools Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to translate highly complex technical issues to non-technical audience. Proactive, great attention to detail, results-oriented problem solver Preferred Requirements BA/BS/BBA degree in Computer Science or Information Systems Knowledge in a wide range of data subjects including Financial Services, Database Marketing, Sales and New Product Development. Experience with industry data models (financial services) is a plus Experience with Master Data Management and Metadata Management processes Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools including Access, Excel, and Word Experience with Teradata, GreenPlum/Postgres or other MPP architecture based databases, Business Objects, IBM DataStage and TIBCO Spotfire is a plus |
