Job Title: Senior Business Analyst
Location: Boston MA
Duration: 12 Months
Description:
Responsibilities:
· Gathers and documents the detailed business requirements in form of a traceable, testable and verifiable format
· Defining/aligning polices, standards and rules for workflows that are in Standard Operating Procedures
· Improve data quality and integrity while resolving data integration issues.
· Document data dictionary identifying the owners, data calculations, descriptions and modes of access for various roles within the department.
· Reconciles and maps with the business their requirements to data sources and structures
· Documenting and linking business needs to individual data elements via a data model
· Focus on how the data is designed, conceptually, logically and physically in order to support business usage of that data.
· Help create and maintain data standards to metadata and the repositories used to maintain it.
· Participates with the SME in the business to understand the data context of its origin to business rules, lineage and usage.
· Helps develop reports as its supports business initiative
· Applies use cases to fully ascertain the functionality of the system changes.
· Define workflow for all assigned projects.
· Maps business processes and helps to define QA tests with the Quality Assurance team.
· Works closely with the business users in identifying business rules to aid in the functional specifications of tasks so that the IT Designers and Developers are able to create programs that fulfil all business expectations.
· Knowledge of integrated business process modelling for operations procedures, including process improvements and efficiencies
· Works closely with the IT PMO manager to prioritize and coordinate individual project tasks and assess time sensitive constraints on development tasks.
· Alerts the IT PMO manager when Customer Support Requests may impact any project currently in the development or deployment process.
· Develop reports to communicate schedules, issues, risks and project changes to project stakeholders and project manager.
· Provide the necessary documentation in a project - i.e. statement of work, business requirements, use cases, functional specifications, and documentation for business training materials.
· Research best practices for business analysis and suggest improvement opportunities for the team
· Provides mentoring to other business analysts.
· Attends to other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
Skills:
· Minimum of 5 -8 years BA experience with an emphasis on data modeling, validation, reporting tracing to source targets, mapping and reporting
· Define data quality standards, rules; assist in planning refinement of data capture and workflow processes to ensure data is maintained across the division.
· Helps to define metadata repository, and the integration of the repository into the data infrastructure for data lineage and impact analysis-metadata management
· Performs data analysis activities as a liaison to the business for IT, complies business and data requirements.
· Helps prepare test case scripts that are cross-reference to each business requirements to the logical model, physical tables and ETL mappings.
· Prepares users acceptance that will cross-reference the requirements, tables and test cases
· Active member or certification in IIBA is desirable
· Experience or knowledge with iRise interactive prototyping tool is desirable
· Experience or knowledge of BPM Blue Works IBM process modeling tool is desirable
· Experience or knowledge with Requirement Management Tools
· Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) a high benefit
· Analyzes business processes/functions
· Gathers detailed business requirements
· Accurately documents business requirements/functions
· Demonstrates very strong communication skills (written and verbal)
· Demonstrates strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
· Interacts well with business users/technical team/project managers/senior management/vendors
· Acts as a liaison between report developer and business user
· Demonstrates ability to resolve problems
· Is very detail oriented
· Has extensive experience working under a structured SDLC
· Has experience with Use Case design/analysis/specifications
· Has a history of successful customer relationship and satisfaction experience
· Is client-focused
