Job Description:
1. Manage iterative development to deliver planned releases of software product to customers 2. Act as Scrum master with a focus on guiding the teams towards improving the way they work 3. Facilitate sprint planning, retrospective and sprint demos 4. Assist the product owner with keeping the backlog groomed 5. Ensure cross-team coordination 6. Reach out to the larger company network for impediment removal 7. Maintain relevant metrics that help the team see how they are doing 8. Communicate with other scrum masters in our organization to share best practices and ensure that our ways of working are consistent across the teams. 9. Take responsibility for managing dependencies between our team and third parties or between our team and other scrum teams.
MUST HAVES:
a. Significant Agile, scrum master experience in a commercial software setting and everything that comes with that
b. Ability to work as a product manager as well as project manager. Deep understanding of the different elements in the development lifecycle/process and ability to manage and run with them at a detailed level.
c. Lead/participate in everything where necessary short of coding.
d. Confident in ability to either take direction or provide direction and implement that direction as well as rally diverse teams (including offshore) to structured methodologies (Agile) that might be new to them
e. Ability to use Agile tools (Pivotal Tracker preferred) to communicate progress, status and to drive the team
SKILLS:
Must have experience working with offshore teams. Knowledge of tracking tools in an agile environment. Experience with Pivitol Tracker is a plus. Commercial software (product) management experience required. Strong leadership and organizational skills and experience with organizing and structuring development teams to follow new methodologies. 1. Certified scrum master/scrum practitioner 2. At least 3-5 years' experience working in an agile environment. Must include successful product release, ideally to external customers 3. Understand incremental delivery and the value of metrics 4. Understand backlog tracking, burn down metrics, velocity, and task definition 5. Knowledge of the software development life cycle 6. Excellent interpersonal communication skills 7. Proven leadership ability with willingness to roll up sleeves to get the job done. Must be able to garner respect from his/her team but be willing to do what it takes to get the job done. 8. Facilitation skills. Must be able to lead and demonstrate value-add principles to a team 9. Assertiveness. Must be able to ensure Agile/Scrum concepts and principles are adhered to, must be able to be a voice of reason and authority, make the tough calls. 10. Situational Awareness. Must be the first to notice differences and issues as they arise and elevate them to management 11. Enthusiastic, high-energy individual 12. Skilled in conflict resolution. Must be able to facilitate discussion and facilitate alternatives or different approaches. 13. Attitude of empowerment. Must be able to lead a team to self-organization. 14. Attitude of transparency.
