Job Description: PMO Lead/Project Manager Level IV

Short Project Description:

The SLED – State and Local Education Division – New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission Project is urgently seeking a PMO Lead/Project Manager Level IV.  Project started January 2009 and is planned through March 2014 with a one-year warranty period.  This modernization project is Java custom application development for the State's Motor Vehicle System.  The HP State and Local Education Division (SLED) supports multiple DMV projects through the US.   The best qualified candidate will be part of the Elite team and will join the SLED Program/Project Management Center of Expertise (COE) to ensure leveraging of best practices, tools and methodologies from across the Enterprise.

 
This PM IV will work part of a team of three in the Project Management Office (PMO) ensuring project standards are in place and providing support and to the Project Manager and coordination with multiple functional leads.

 

Position is to be performed  on-site at the Motor Vehicle Commission client office.   The State office is located in downtown Trenton, New Jersey, within 5 miles of the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania border and within 1.5 hours of New York City.

 

Position Description

·         Authority to oversee operations of project standards providing the project management processes, procedures, tools and methods for project activities.

·         Directs planning, scheduling, monitoring and reporting activities:  management of scope, reporting progress and performance, scheduling development and maintenance, risk and issue, communication plan, and maintain staffing plan.

·         Monitors change controls, issues, and risk reporting, escalations, and resolution in conjunction with the Project Manager and  Leadership team

·         Provides guidance and assistance to the project manager and leads on processes, procedures, and tools

·         Provides support to ensure client/customer service expectations are met.

 

Knowledge and Skills Required:

·         Excellent communication and facilitation skills

·         7+ years' experience with fixed price software development projects

·         Experience with managing project team members

·         Knowledge of PMBOK Methods

·         PMP Certified

·         Able to communicate with internal and external senior management confidently and demonstrate the professionalism of the job family.

·         Ability to work as part of a multi-functional team.
