Role -: AS/ 400 Consultant
Location-: Westborough, MA (Boston)
Duration 1+ year
Rates -: Open DOE
Details -:
§ i5/OS & OS/400 Operating System Support.
§ iSeries H/W & S/W configuration, installation, maintenance, PTF/APAR management, printer configuration and support.
§ Execution of general scheduled administrative activities - including but not limited to system start-up, IPL.
§ Backup and Recovery management using BRMS.
§ Expert Knowledge/experience with Third party products (including automation solutions, installation, configuration, maintenance, and daily monitoring).
§ APAR management of the High Availability (HA) products.
§ OS/400 Security Management.
§ DASD management.
§ Experience with iSeries Job Schedulers - Robot, IBM Advanced Job Scheduler (IJS) and the Native Job Scheduler (WRKJOBSCDE).
§ Migrations and upgrades from one release to another
§ IBM supported network architecture - TCP/IP, SNI, SNA - and Network configuration Management for iSeries.
§ Hardware and software resources management.
§ LPAR/HMC management
§ CL programming and SQL/Query 400.
§ Experience with cartridge tape technology.
§ Experience with OEM software, products, and tools (including upgrades and maintenance).
§ Administration of user accounts and groups - including but not limited to account creation, assignment, renewal, access/system rights, account profile setting, password reset
§ Perform vendor management for IBM supported products.
§ Problem and Change Management process knowledge.
Mandatory skills
- Extremely familiar with IBM's AS400 operating system
- PTF Management. Installing and applying PTFs (- Installing patches
and fixes )
- Backup and Restoration thorough BRMS

- Knowledge of LPAR/HMC technology.
- knowledge on system performance planning
- Strong knowledge on Robot, MIMIX, IPL, HMC Concepts.
- Managing incidents on AS400 related issues
- System IPL issues
- Knowledge/experience performing High Availability (HA) role
Swaps.
- Ability to manage unscheduled outage.
- Knowledge of PCI and SOX Compliance.
- Problem management - providing permanent fixes for recurring
issues
- Job performance analysis -reports
- Handle system change requests
- Performance and Capacity Management process/tool knowledge.
