Description:

Detailed analysis, reviews and recommendation of designs of data structures required for storing detailed underwriting, financial and accounting data efficiently for use in the Economic Capital Model implemented in Tower Watson Igloo risk modeling environment.

 

Detailed analysis reviews and recommendation of designs of data structures required for storing SME pack results of model runs within the Igloo risk modeling environment. Design of multi-dimensional analytics data structures including star and snowflake schemas.

 

 

Database design for performance, optimal database modeling as well as effective database management processes are key requirements for this position. The successful candidate must have solid data base modeling and object design at the logical level using ERWIN or similar data modeling tools and must be at ease working with the application DBA to convert the logical schema to a physical implementation.

Key tasks include design of tables, stored procedures, conversion of stored procedures into ETL code, database schema and ERD logical model change management, dataset versioning and collection of tables for model runs, managing the DCC data control structures, cataloguing data and making versioned copies, develop, test and implement complex SQL statements, stored procedures, triggers, and functions in SQL Server 2008

Map Abinitio graphs as ETL transforms, to data structures within the Igloo Input and Output databases as required by traceability specifications as part of the Solvency II program. (Abinitio knowledge is not a requirement).

 

Review and validate Unit Test Cases for all data elements in the Igloo Input and Output databases and collaborate on the generation of system and integration test cases

 

 

Work with the ETL architect and lead to ensure ETL developers have the required data schema and metadata information and participate in knowledge transfer with the goal to remove any knowledge gaps that might exist.

 

Assist with source data analysis and profiling and in the development of the source to target mapping documents.

 

 

Be able to analyze SQL code and suggest optimization techniques and then work with the application DBA to implement and constructing feedback documents or walkthroughs with the ETL development team.

Must be able to partner with a Business Analyst to understand the Business Requirements and how these translate to Igloo database design criteria and logical/physical objects

Solid experience in creating logical data model structures and object definitions based on business requirements

 

Skillful in clearly articulating thoughts in writing and presentations as well as communicate clearly and effectively with the development team, management, business users, other IT systems owners,

and DA/DBA groups.

 

 

A strong collaborator and self-motivating performer in a dynamic environment.
