General Job description:
Client is in the process of migrating from Oracle 11g to MS SQL server 2008 and the ideal candidate will have gone through a migration and have the ability to work with the team in this process. The candidate will be able to help evaluate the environment and recommend/implement best practices. Duties will include database design and development for SQL server 2008 environment as well as will have some BI/Data Warehouse responsibilities (SSIS, SSRS, SSAS.)The candidate will focus on report development using SSRS.
Responsibilities:
- Consolidates data reports and deliverables to help drive data-based strategic decision making.
- Trouble shoots development issues as well as data and warehousing concerns
- Maintain and enhance legacy reports and systems
- Creates efficiencies with current reports and data warehousing to help manage capacity and resources constraints.
- Write & troubleshoot SQL code and design (stored procedures, functions, triggers, tables, views, indexes, constraints etc.)
- Understand and apply optimization methods specific to MS SQL Server.
- Troubleshoot performance bottlenecks, read query plans, review SQL response logs, traces etc
- Experience with Excel, Access, and VB script
Required Experience:
- MS SQL Server 2008 (SSRS, SSIS)
- Excellent written and verbal communication to interact with business, users, and team
- Experience with Excel, Access, and VB script
Preferred Experience:
- Financial services experience
- Data warehousing concepts
- Migration experience from Oracle to SQL
